- 12 oz (340g) pasta (penne, fettuccine, or spaghetti)
- 2 tbsp olive oil or butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- Fresh basil or parsley for garnish

- Cook pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup pasta water, then drain.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, heat olive oil or butter. Add garlic and sauté for 30–60 seconds until fragrant.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes. Simmer for 5–7 minutes.
- Reduce heat and stir in heavy cream. Cook for 2–3 minutes until sauce thickens slightly.
- Add Parmesan cheese and stir until melted and smooth. Season with salt and pepper.
- Add drained pasta to the skillet and toss to coat. Add reserved pasta water as needed to loosen the sauce.
- Garnish with fresh herbs and extra Parmesan before serving.
Notes
For extra protein, add grilled chicken or shrimp. Substitute half-and-half for a lighter sauce. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
