Description
Crispy St. Patrick’s Day Cabbage Fritters are golden, savory bites packed with tender cabbage and herbs. Perfect as a festive appetizer or side dish, these fritters are crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside.
Ingredients
Ingredients
- 3 cups finely shredded green cabbage
- 1/2 small onion, finely diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup grated cheddar cheese (optional)
- 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp paprika
- Oil for frying
Instructions
Instructions
- Prepare mixture: In a large bowl, combine shredded cabbage, onion, garlic, eggs, flour, cheese (if using), parsley, salt, pepper, and paprika. Mix until well combined.
- Heat oil: Add about 1/4 inch of oil to a skillet and heat over medium heat.
- Form fritters: Scoop about 2 tablespoons of mixture per fritter into the skillet. Flatten slightly with a spatula.
- Cook: Fry 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy. Adjust heat as needed to prevent burning.
- Drain: Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- Serve: Serve warm with sour cream, yogurt dip, or a light garlic sauce.
Notes
Squeeze excess moisture from cabbage before mixing for extra crispiness. These fritters can be baked at 400°F (200°C) for 20–25 minutes (flipping halfway) for a lighter option. Best served fresh and crispy.
