- 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- 1 tsp paprika

- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp flour or cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
- 2 tbsp olive oil (optional, for searing)

- Optional: Heat olive oil in a skillet and sear beef cubes 2–3 minutes per side for extra flavor.
- Place beef, potatoes, carrots, celery, onion, and garlic in the slow cooker.
- In a bowl, whisk together beef broth, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, paprika, salt, and pepper. Pour over the meat and vegetables.
- Cover and cook on LOW for 7–8 hours or on HIGH for 4–5 hours, until beef and vegetables are tender.
- If desired, mix flour or cornstarch with a small amount of water and stir in during the last 30 minutes for a thicker stew.
- Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.
Notes
For extra depth, add a splash of red wine with the broth. Frozen peas or green beans can be added in the last 30 minutes of cooking for extra vegetables.
