- Combine dry ingredients: In another bowl, whisk flour and salt, then gradually add to the butter mixture until a soft dough forms.
- Shape cookies: Roll dough into 1-inch balls and optionally roll in extra sugar.
- Create thumbprint: Press your thumb or a spoon into the center of each cookie to form an indentation.
- Fill with jam: Spoon about 1/2 tsp of jam into each indentation.
- Bake: Bake for 12–15 minutes until edges are lightly golden.
- Cool: Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
Notes
Use thick jams to prevent spreading. For a festive look, try using different colored jams or sprinkle a little sugar on top before baking. Store in an airtight container.
