Description
Slow Cooker Beef Manhattan is a classic comfort-food favorite made with tender slow-cooked beef, rich brown gravy, and served open-faced over bread and mashed potatoes. Hearty, nostalgic, and incredibly satisfying.
Ingredients
Ingredients
- 3 lb chuck roast
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 packet brown gravy mix
- 1 packet onion soup mix
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- White bread or Texas toast, for serving
- Prepared mashed potatoes, for serving
Instructions
Instructions
- Place the chuck roast in the bottom of a 6-quart slow cooker.
- In a bowl, whisk together beef broth, brown gravy mix, onion soup mix, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Pour the gravy mixture over the roast.
- Cover and cook on LOW for 8–9 hours or HIGH for 4–5 hours, until beef is very tender.
- Remove beef and shred with two forks. Return shredded beef to the gravy and stir.
- To serve, place toasted bread on a plate, top with mashed potatoes, then spoon beef and gravy over the top.
Notes
For extra-rich gravy, stir in a cornstarch slurry during the last 30 minutes if needed. This dish is traditionally served open-faced and pairs well with green beans or corn.
