- 2 lbs beef chuck roast
- 1 packet onion soup mix
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 packet brown gravy mix
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water (optional, for thickening)

- Sliced white or wheat bread
- Mashed potatoes

- Place beef chuck roast into the slow cooker.
- Sprinkle onion soup mix evenly over the beef.
- Pour beef broth around the roast and add Worcestershire sauce and black pepper.
- Cover and cook on LOW for 7–8 hours or on HIGH for 4–5 hours, until beef is very tender.
- Remove beef and shred or slice.
- Whisk brown gravy mix into the cooking liquid and cook on HIGH for 10–15 minutes until thickened. Optional: add cornstarch slurry for extra thickness.
- Return beef to the gravy and stir gently.
- Serve beef and gravy over bread with mashed potatoes.
Notes
For extra richness, add a tablespoon of butter to the gravy before serving. Leftovers reheat beautifully and taste even better the next day.
