- 1 cup fresh strawberries, chopped

- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg

- 4 oz semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
- 1/2 cup heavy cream

- Preheat oven according to cake mix instructions and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
- Prepare chocolate cake batter according to package instructions.
- Pour half of the batter into the pan. Sprinkle chopped strawberries evenly over the batter.
- Drop small spoonfuls of cheesecake mixture over strawberries, then pour remaining cake batter on top.
- Bake according to cake mix instructions, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out mostly clean.
- Let cake cool completely in the pan.
- For the ganache, heat cream until just simmering and pour over chopped chocolate in a bowl. Let sit 1–2 minutes, then stir until smooth.
- Pour ganache over cooled cake and spread evenly. Chill until set, about 1 hour.
Notes
Use fresh, firm strawberries for best results. For extra indulgence, serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. Cake can be made a day ahead and stored covered in the refrigerator.
