Instructions

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dough: Cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla extract and mix until combined.
  2. Add dry ingredients: Mix flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl. Gradually add to the butter mixture until a soft dough forms.
  3. Chill the dough: Cover dough and refrigerate for 30 minutes to make it easier to roll and shape.
  4. Cut and bake cookies: Roll dough and cut into desired shapes. Place on lined baking sheets and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 8–10 minutes.
  5. Cool completely: Let cookies cool on a wire rack before decorating.
  6. Prepare frosting: Beat butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, cream, and salt until smooth and fluffy.
  7. Decorate: Frost cookies and add red, white, and blue sprinkles or designs. Let set before serving.

Notes

Chilling the dough helps cookies keep their shape while baking. Make cookies ahead of time and decorate before your celebration. Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
