Ingredients

For the Bread Batter

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup whole milk
  • 1 1/2 cups fresh blueberries (or frozen)

For the Cream Cheese Layer

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Optional Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

Instructions

  1. Prepare the pan: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9×5-inch loaf pan with parchment paper.
  2. Mix the bread batter: Whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. In another bowl, beat butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla, sour cream, and milk. Gradually fold in the dry ingredients. Toss blueberries with 1 tablespoon flour and gently fold them into the batter.
  3. Prepare the cream cheese filling: Beat cream cheese, sugar, egg, and vanilla until smooth and creamy.
  4. Assemble the loaf: Spread half of the bread batter into the prepared loaf pan. Spoon the cream cheese mixture evenly over the batter, then cover with the remaining batter and smooth the top.
  5. Bake: Bake for 55-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the bread portion comes out clean. Cool for 15 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  6. Optional glaze: Whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla, then drizzle over the cooled loaf.
  7. Serve: Slice and enjoy warm or at room temperature with coffee or tea.

Notes

Fresh blueberries provide the best texture, but frozen blueberries can be used without thawing. Tossing the berries with a little flour helps prevent them from sinking. Store covered in the refrigerator for up to 5 days or freeze individual slices for up to 2 months.
