- 1/2 tsp black pepper

- 1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

- Cook the spaghetti: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the spaghetti until al dente according to package directions. Reserve 1/2 cup pasta water before draining.
- Cook the garlic: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Make the sauce: Pour in the heavy cream and milk, stirring constantly. Simmer gently for 3-4 minutes without boiling.
- Add the Parmesan cheese gradually, whisking until fully melted and smooth.
- Season with black pepper, Italian seasoning, crushed red pepper flakes if using, and salt to taste.
- Combine: Add the cooked spaghetti to the skillet and toss until evenly coated.
- If needed, stir in a little reserved pasta water to loosen the sauce.
- Serve immediately topped with extra Parmesan, parsley, and freshly cracked black pepper.
Notes
Freshly grated Parmesan melts much better than pre-shredded cheese. If the sauce thickens too much, simply stir in additional reserved pasta water until it reaches your desired consistency. Add grilled chicken or shrimp for extra protein.
