Ingredients
Ingredients
- 2 cups fresh or frozen blueberries
- 1 cup fresh lemon juice (about 5–6 lemons)
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar or honey
- 5 cups water, divided
- Ice cubes
- Lemon slices, for garnish
- Fresh blueberries, for garnish
- Fresh mint leaves, optional garnish
Instructions
Instructions
- Make blueberry syrup: In a saucepan, combine blueberries, sugar, and 2 cups of water.
- Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat and cook for 8–10 minutes until the berries burst and soften.
- Strain: Pour the mixture through a fine mesh strainer, pressing gently to extract the juice. Discard solids and allow the syrup to cool.
- Mix lemonade: In a large pitcher, combine the blueberry syrup, fresh lemon juice, and remaining 3 cups of water.
- Stir thoroughly and adjust sweetness if needed.
- Chill: Refrigerate until cold.
- Serve: Fill glasses with ice and pour the lemonade over top.
- Garnish with lemon slices, blueberries, and fresh mint if desired.
Notes
For a sparkling version, replace part of the water with club soda just before serving. Frozen blueberries work just as well as fresh and can be used year-round.
