  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tbsp dried culinary lavender
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Honey Buttercream

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 23 tbsp honey
  • 12 tbsp milk (as needed)
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

  1. Infuse milk: Heat milk with lavender until just warm, then steep 10–15 minutes. Strain and cool.
  2. Preheat oven: Set to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake pan.
  3. Mix dry ingredients: Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Cream butter & sugars: Beat butter, sugar, and honey until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then vanilla.
  5. Combine: Alternate adding dry ingredients and lavender milk until smooth.
  6. Bake: Fill liners and bake 18–22 minutes until set.
  7. Make frosting: Beat butter, powdered sugar, honey, milk, and vanilla until creamy.
  8. Frost & serve: Cool cupcakes completely before frosting.

Notes

Use culinary-grade lavender to avoid bitterness. Garnish with a drizzle of honey or a few lavender buds for a beautiful finish.
