Ingredients

For the Peach Bread

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 cups fresh peaches, peeled and diced
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)

For the Vanilla Glaze (Optional)

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

Instructions

  1. Prepare the pan: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9×5-inch loaf pan with parchment paper.
  2. Mix the dry ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. Make the batter: In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla and sour cream. Gradually stir in the dry ingredients until just combined.
  4. Fold in the peaches: Gently fold the diced peaches and chopped pecans into the batter. Pour into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
  5. Bake: Bake for 55–65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Cool in the pan for 15 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  6. Prepare the glaze: Whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Drizzle over the cooled bread if desired.
  7. Slice and enjoy: Serve warm or at room temperature for breakfast, dessert, or with a cup of coffee.

Notes

Use ripe but firm peaches for the best texture. If using frozen peaches, thaw and drain them well before adding to the batter. Store the bread tightly wrapped at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to 5 days. This loaf also freezes beautifully for up to 2 months.
